FAQs

What is urinary incontinence?

Difficulty holding back urine when trying to get to the toilet, leakage when you sneeze, cough, jump, walk or laugh.  You may be trying to find bathrooms everywhere you go or anxious about wearing pads and possible odor.

Can strengthening my pelvic floor really help my issues in the bedroom?

Yes. Increasing your pelvic floor strength can help improve sensation due to stimulation of the nerve that is connected to both the muscles and sexual organs.

Can’t I just do Kegels?

No, your incontinence may not just be the result of weakness but poor pelvic floor function.  Most women don’t know how to isolate their PF properly and this device elicits a simultaneous PF muscle contraction of the 3 muscles:  pubococcygeus, ileococcygeus and ischiococcygeus.

Does the Fem Therapy device make you tighter?

Yes.  It helps increase pelvic floor muscle tone over time; however, just like with any exercise program, you must be consistent through usage every day for a minimum of 3-4 weeks to get the maximum benefit.

How does Fem Therapy work to eliminate bladder leaks?

It uses neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) technology delivered through the large electrodes on the cushion that you sit on which stimulates the pudendal nerve.  This nerve causes the PF to contract in a cohesive and coordinated manner.  The preset therapies determine the on/off time for each contraction for a preset time of 18 minutes.

How does Fem Therapy work to improve orgasms?

The portion of the pudendal nerve which provides sensation to the sexual organs such as the clitoris “wakes up” the sensation signal to the brain with each PF muscle contraction.  This results in heightened sensation during sexual encounters and improving the strength of the pelvic floor which will result in stronger orgasms.

Is the Fem Therapy device painful?

No.  The sensation you feel is a very strong tingling sensation that will draw the pelvic floor up and in.  The intensity can always be adjusted to each persons comfort level.  As you become more comfortable with the device and your body becomes accommodated to the sensation, turning the intensity to the maximum comfort level will produce maximum results.

Why FEM Therapy

Fem Therapy was introduced by a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor rehab and is backed by NMES clinical research in treatment of bladder leaks*. NMES has always been the gold standard in pelvic floor physical therapy by recruiting both slow twitch and fast twitch muscle fibers. Other at home treatments require the cumbersome task of placing electrodes properly, wearing undergarments with wires or inserting a device into the vagina. Fem Therapy is a portable cushion you place anywhere, sit on it for a set amount of time daily and is completely safe and non-invasive.
